Happy 5-2-1 Impact Thursday!

Here are 5 high parenting tips I've learnt, 2 quotes from others, and 1 conversation starter/ question to think about this week.

🧑🏻5 Parenting Tips👨🏻

👨‍👩‍👧1👨‍👩‍👦

Your Child NEEDS 1 on 1 time!

It's crucial for emotional connection. Give your little one the attention they need or they are going to start asking for it in unhealthy ways. As little as 10-15 mins a day already goes a long way.

📌2📌

Routines = Stability

Kids thrive with a routine. Let your little ones decide how they want the routine to go and then stick to it. Especially for challenging times of the day like morning, after school, meal times and bed times.

✅3✅

You are NOT your child's Problem Solver

Neither are you a referee. You are there to guide them to the answer. Kids grow by solving problem. Don't take that opportunity away from them. Don't choose side. Ask more question.

Create Your Own 10 Commandments

Make a list of House rules (not too much). Determine the consequence for breaking each rule. Explain every thing clearly, have everyone pinky swear on it and then ENFORCE it!

➡️5➡️

Practice redirection

Some things are a straight no. For everything else, practice redirection instead of saying no. Saying No makes kids feel lousy. Instead of saying NO, let's not go to the pool, try saying Yes, Shall we go tomorrow? Same outcome, different delivery.

💬2 QUOTES FROM OTHERS💬

“Children are apt to live up to what you believe of them.” – Lady Bird Johnson

2.

“There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” – Jill Churchill

1 QUESTION FOR YOU

What parenting memories would you like to have 30 years from now?

Begin with the end in mind, even for parenting.

Recognise that these are the moments to create memories that you will have in 30 years.

The journey is as much your child's as your own.

So dig deep, get asking.

May you enjoy this parent journey.

Until next week!
